velvet bows and dresses

Here is a peak at my very own handmade velvet dress! The colour doesn't show up too brilliantly in these photos (its a midnight blue shade) Of course I had a lot of help and guidance from my clever mum, and there were quite a few complications, but I really do think it was all worth the effort and tender care that was put into making it. There was so much material left over, so i made a hair bow and plan to sew a clutch bag and belt later on.

My holidays have come to an end which is rather sad, they went so fast. Had lots of fun skating on ice, sipping hot chocolates, baking cupcakes, raspberry scones, lemon meringue pies, going to the theaters, little shopping trips, picnics in the hills and dancing the evening away. And I must thank you again Jennifer for the gorgeous package!

P.S I bought a packet of Leone sweets the other day, they are such a wonderful, pretty treats that taste like musk sticks and flowers.

  1. Going to go steal some of your patterns for these dresses Carina... So beautiful! I also want to ask, did you use a certain needle on your sewing machine to sew the velvet, I'm wondering if it would blunt the needle.
