Little Things

My days have been spent doing many little crafty things. I recently bought a set of Beatrix Potters tales at the markets, it has provided me with inspirational painting material. I've also had my heart set on sewing a lace top and skirt for awhile now. I have finished the top and am yet to begin the skirt. I am very proud of my top, despite a few problems encountered along the way. I always fantasize about making loads and loads of pretty clothing, sewing into  the night without any troubles, but of course, sewing isnt like that really, it can be frustrating but I still enjoy it.

The pattern pictured was one dollar at the Canningvale markets! I'm excited to sew the dress on the left after finishing my current project.

Finally, the little bow and tea pot charm is one example of what I am putting on the invitations for my birthday party in February. I'm to have a high tea, hopefully in the garden for my 'Sweet 16th'. I am planning to hire a croquet set and have lots of cakes and tea.

Thankyou all for your book recommendations, I now have quite a list and I want to read them all!

  1. Did you do that top illustration? It is magical! I really must get my own watercolours out.. And that top looks exquisite, I wish I could sew like that (I can only manage buttons and sequins and such). Your party sounds like it'll be very lovely indeed :)
I'm sorry I didn't see your previous post- I would recommend "How I live now" by Meg Rosoff, "Pied Piper" by Nevil Shute, "The Shadow of the Wind" by Carlos Ruiz Zafon and also poems by Keats.

  28. Oh how wonderful, I love Beatrix Potter too! I have a whole set of porcelin mugs with varied characters like Jamima Puddle Duck and Tom Kitten and my boyfriend sometimes buys me the little mini books from the series. I agree, her illustrations are very inspirational and that copy you did from the book is incredible, I wish I could manage a steady hand at water color but it's oh so hard :P
